This tour will take you from Westport to Newport and on to Achill Island.

Take the N59 from Westport to Newport and follow it to Mulranny and Achill Sound where a bridge will take you to Achill Island. Follow the road all the way to Keem Beach on the western tip of the island. The road to the beach is high with steep cliffs. In good weather Keem Bay has a certain Carribean flair to it.

If you're fit enough you can climb the steep slope up to Achill Head and enjoy the view there. It's America over there ...

Other places of interest on Achill Island are the Deserted Village near Dugort and Dooagh, the island's westermost village.
