Take the N59 from Westport to Newport and Achill. Shortly after leaving Newport take a right turn at the road to Furnace. Follow the road along the shores of Lough Furnace and Lough Feeagh until you get to the sign shown on the photograph.

wild nephin

That's where the road through Wild Nephin starts. It's only a couple of kilometers long and and not in a very good state. Look out for potholes and chippings. The rest of the road leading to the N59 is in a much better condition and leads through very deserted bogland.

Turn right at the N59 and follow it back to Newport (R312 and R317).
